Thinking of introducing your child to more outdoor activities? Well, if so then an electric kick scooter like the Razor Power Core E90 may be the way to go.
Scooters in general, offer your children a bevy of benefits, such as improvement of eye/hand coordination, development of both fine and gross motor skills, and an appreciation for playing outdoors.
Increased activity has been correlated not only with improved health but also improved academic scores. Psychologically, a child on a scooter even develops an increased sense of self-esteem, as they are the ones ‘in charge’.
They are the ones choosing the direction they are to move, they are the ones deciding how fast, how slow, and when to start and stop.
All in all, the cognitive and physical benefits of introducing a scooter to your child are great, indeed, and the Razor Power Core E90 is just the scooter that can handle the task.
Razor Power Core E90 Design
When it comes to craftsmanship you can trust, it’s hard to beat Razor.
Often considered the first name in both electric power and kick scooters, Razor has cornered the marketplace due to their devotion to both their company and clientele.
Their crack research and development specialists use only the best materials and designers in order to bring their best scooter designs to the market place.
Once you read my Razor Power Core E90 review, I believe you’ll find it’s purpose blends perfectly with its design and function.
Created with your child in mind, it’s designed for children 8 years old and up, giving them enjoyment and you, peace of mind.
Motor
The Razor Power Core gets its name from its motor design. Razor’s team of experts happily ditched the old-fashioned chain-driven motors for the E90 and replaced them with 90 Watt high torque hub motors.
Now, for those of you unfamiliar with hub motors, it refers to motors which are integrated into the wheel, instead of using a chain. It’s these high-torque, hub motors which give you an increase in runtime per single charge of its 12-volt batteries.
Hub motors have many advantages over the standard chain motor, among them is the fact that they are virtually maintenance-free, as there are no chains to deal with, no chain tensioner and no alignment!
Hub motors mean that you’ll get twice the runtime as the previous, chain-driven motor version, which equates to around 80 minutes of straight, non-stop cruising fun, and 50 percent more power!

Batteries
Even though Razor switched up to hub motors to ensure more enhanced performance, it still requires 12 volt, lead-acid batteries, and a 12 hour charging time.
Lead-acid batteries require little maintenance, are recyclable and inexpensive, so replacing them will not damage your wallet. Your purchase also includes a charger.
It’s strongly recommended that you charge up the batteries fully the night before your first ride, and never let the charge go out completely. So the moment you finish your ride, plug it in so it can recharge.
Maximum Speed and Range
If you’re concerned that the E90 will be too much for your pre-teen, don’t be. The Power Core E90 is perfectly balanced power-wise.
With a top speed of 10 miles per hour, it’s a dependable ride for kids 8 years old and up, as long as they weigh under 120 pounds. As previously stated, it gives your child around 80 minutes of ride time, which is more than plenty for one afternoon’s activities.
Note that the front wheel is polyurethane, so it won’t absorb bumps well, nor will it be able to handle wet surfaces.

Acceleration and Braking
Acceleration and braking offer your child the ultimate control over their E90. As this is a kick-to-start electric scooter, your child will have to give it a few kicks, enough to reach 2 to 3 miles per hour in order to get the motor to kick in.
When it comes to acceleration, all your child needs do is to use the conveniently placed, push-button throttle control. This is often much easier for smaller children than the twist grip throttle found on Razor’s other children’s model, the E100.
As for braking, it’s provided by an easy to use, hand-operated front end fender brake. Rear-wheel drive is designed to give your pre-teen more control and enhanced maneuverability, along with increased traction, and the durable kickstand ensures that once the ride is over, it will be in an upright position, instead of being tossed to the ground.
Assembly
The Razor Power Core E90 does not arrive pre-assembled. However, that doesn’t mean it’s a difficult task to get it rolling.
Once its unboxed just take the handlebar and attach it to the body of the scooter. Yep, it’s that simple.

Power Core E90 Glow Electric Scooter
The Power Core E90 Glow is a variant of the standard E90. Crafted with the same quality and care of its sibling, the standard-issue E90, what makes the Glow so special its electroluminescent on deck wire, coupled with the 6 LED lights located beneath the deck.
Your child will absolutely love this effect as the sun goes down on playtime, and you’ll be at peace knowing that your child’s ride will be sufficiently visible even at dusk, early morning, shaded areas or cloudy days.

Final Thoughts
The Razor Power Core E90 is the perfect solution when it comes to getting your children familiar with outdoor activities. This is a reliable and dependable scooter with little or no maintenance.
Even so, it’s strongly recommended that you inspect your child’s scooter on a routine basis, especially the brake function. Also, make sure that the guards are in place, nothing loose, and everything secure.
Remember, even polyurethane wheels can wear down or become damaged. Finally, provide your child with the proper scooter gear, such as a helmet, knee and elbow pads.
